Reflections on a 14-Year Journey

In 2011 I was just a former pro athlete trying to figure out life after the track. I had the honour of competing on the world stage, but when the spikes came off, I wanted to build something that lasted.

So, I started Newton Sports Agency. At the time, my goal was simple: build something meaningful & make an honest living. 14 years later, the journey has been bigger than I could have imagined. I’m incredibly proud that the Agency is 100% African-owned, and that we represent African talent exclusively. We don’t just believe in the continent, we invest in it. We are proof that world-class talent can not only emerge from Africa, but be developed, managed, & celebrated here, by people who understand the heartbeat of the continent.

We’re building an ecosystem, a platform for excellence, creativity & most importantly, a vehicle for legacy. Our work spans athlete management, consulting, event creation & grassroots development — all anchored in our belief that Africa is not just a talent pool, but a powerhouse of potential.

What I’ve Learned:

  • I didn’t want to just be an agent — I wanted to build an agency.

  • I’ve made peace with the sacrifices — missed birthdays, long travel days — because the mission has always been bigger than me.

  • I’ve learned the importance of giving people a shot — even if they didn’t tick all the boxes on paper.

  • I’ve discovered the joy of building something with purpose and integrity, even when it would have been easier to cut corners.

  • I’ve come to deeply value the people around me — mentors, colleagues, teammates, and every staff member who’s given their all to this journey.

What We've Built:

We’ve helped shape the careers of Olympic & World Champions, and yes, seeing Chad le Clos stun the world in 2012 was unforgettable, but what truly inspires me is when those victories are built on African soil, by athletes who trusted the process and the people behind it.

Our proudest achievements include:

  • Creating a development pipeline that consistently produces global champions.

  • Growing a team that’s predominantly African — people who understand the terrain, the culture, and the hustle.

  • Changing lives — not just of athletes, but of their families and communities.

The next chapter is all about expansion & innovation:

  • Growing our representation arm to bring more African athletes to the global stage.

  • Building creative, sustainable sports events that showcase African talent.

  • Scaling our consulting work to help shape the future of the African sports economy.

  • Deepening our investment in South Africa while increasing our impact across the continent.

From day one, this has never just been about signing contracts or chasing clout. It’s been about building something bigger than ourselves — a legacy of African excellence, driven by passion, resilience, and belief in our people.
