African Senior Athletics Championships 2026

The 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships in Accra brought together some of the continent’s finest athletes — and Newton athletes delivered performances to be proud of.

Kelvin Loti and Karabo More were crowned African champions, with Kelvin taking gold in the men’s 800m and Karabo winning the women’s 1500m.

Rosemary Chukwuma added two silver medals in the women’s 100m and 200m, while Thelma Davis claimed bronze in the women’s 100m and Brian Komen also secured bronze in the men’s 1500m.

Six medals across the sprints and middle distance events — a special championship for our athletes, competing against the very best on the continent.

Proud of each of them, and proud to see African talent performing on the African stage.
